WHAT IS HEADSTART?
HeadStart is a platform for children and youth of any athletic ability to find a space where they can challenge themselves to grow positive habits and values relevant to all walks of life.
Using physical activity as a vehicle to develop courage and resilience in our young people, our motivation at HeadStart is empower developing brains and bodies to become more adaptive.
HeadStart Netball promotes keen netballers to further their skills, or otherwise to simply enjoy the act of participation; we promote it all.
HeadStart Rugby provides the same, as well as teaching specific technical elements to keep our young rugby players safe and participating in the game for as long as possible.
As Guardians of our great national games we have relished the responsibility of showing young people how fun Netball and Rugby can be when you are connected together with your friends and team mates and actually feel yourself improving as you work hard on your skills.
We have had a lot of fun building A&H Netball over the last 4 years to become a movement we are extremely proud of.
Every day we remind ourselves of our values:
To always have fun, attack each day with energy and courage and that it is ok to strut your stuff…. Always be YOU!
Headstart Netball
We, Anna Kennedy and Hayley Saunders have a combined total of over 250 ANZ Netball games to our names, as well as Anna having 13 Silver Fern caps. Throughout our long careers we both contributed hugely to the leadership of many teams, imparting our experience and knowledge to whoever would take it; we soon learned that we had a lot to offer.
At HeadStart Netball we passionately believe in creating confident players through repetition of fundamental skills, movement competency and most important of all enjoyment of our wonderful game.
We believe that instilling confidence and courage in players forms a solid foundation for flare, individuality and x-factor.
Headstart RUGBY
Headstart Rugby has formed to help preserve the playing numbers of our national game with modern Rugby at a crossroads. The numbers of young people playing the game are slowly decreasing with increased concerns about safety in contact and the growing popularity of other sports.
Through the quality delivery of expert Coaching HeadStart Rugby aims to increase the confidence and enjoyment of young people playing our game. If boys and girls enjoy the game and feel safe they are far more likely to play Rugby all the way through the grades from junior club to secondary school and return to their clubs as adults. It has been well documented that people who play team sports live longer and happier lives.
